We loved Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs loved it. Love the original picture book, loved the snarky but heartfelt movie translation, we even loved the fun little CG world the animators created. So naturally we were pretty excited that they were making a sequel. But then we found out the original movie directors and writers (Phil Lord and Chris Miller) were merely producing, and that it wasn't in Meatballs canon. And now we've seen these images and it all just feels weird and gross.
Meatballs 2 is set in some sort of land where the food is alive. So you can't eat it because the Wild Onions will scream if you bite into their legs. So what is the point? Willy Wonka is a lot less fun if the buttercup flower starts crying when you rip off its face with your teeth. We're trying to keep an open mind but these new images from USA Today are making us super worried about the future of this adorable movie. Except for Barry the Strawberry. He looks delicious. Too bad his life span is a few days. What do you think?
