Fantastic news Ronald D. Moore is returning to Syfy with a brand new series. Which means hard science fiction could finally be returning to the Syfy Channel, and we might finally get a peek at his script for the remake of The Thing that never saw the light of day. Why? Because the plot of Helix sounds a hell of a lot like his pitch for The Thing.
Deadline is reporting that RDM is returning banging out a deal with Syfy for a 13-episode series order of Helix. Which they are calling a "dark thriller... about a team of scientists investigating a possible disease outbreak at an Arctic research facility who find themselves trying to protect the world from annihilation." So... The Thing? However the project was written on spec by Cameron Porsandeh who is also the executive producer. So it could be something different entirely. Honestly we don't care what his project is about, just that he's back and making television. Thank goodness!
If everything goes as planned Helix will premiere later this year.
