Rejoice, Guillermo del Toro is getting an HBO series! Originally pitched for the big screen, the manga series Monster has found a home on HBO. Which means there will be blood, and sex, and supernatural strange.
Naoki Urasawa‘s manga Monster is centered around a disgraced doctor searching for a truly sick criminal. Deadline is reporting that del Toro will direct the pilot, and then will carry on as the Executive Producer.
We're actually all pretty happy Monster is becoming a TV series and not a movie, as there's buckets of material in the books, plus the journey stretches for years and years. Here's the official summary from Amazon of Naoki Urasawa's Monster, Vol. 1
